- strengthening the quality of local government through professionalism; and
- promoting recognition of the importance of the office of the Municipal Clerk
The Maine Town & City Clerks’ Association is dedicated to serving the demands of excellence in Maine’s local government and public problem solving. The Association’s principal missions are to motivate the Maine municipal clerks to become leaders in their fields of governance and to provide an educational program for the new and veteran town and city clerk to meet the highest standards of functional competence and ethical sensitivity and standards.
Providing for continuing education and leadership is a fundamental objective of the Association. The goal is to provide an opportunity for pursuing professional development through training and professional interaction.
The two primary functions of the MTCCA are professional development and legislative advocacy for the Clerks. The professional development programs offered include the sponsorship of a variety of educational workshops for municipal clerks, as well as a certification program to recognize excellence and achievement in the profession. The educational workshops are taught by an experienced municipal clerk, representatives from state agencies, and municipal attorneys from MMA.
Mission Statement:
The MTCCA is a professional organization dedicated to promoting the highest standards of professional development of municipal clerks by providing education and networking opportunities which enhance the level of service to our communities.
